10 new species discovered in the depths of the Atlantic ocean sea
1.hydromedusa.Scientists rise to RRS james cook for investigating life forms along the mid-Atlantic ridge. These forward-subpolar is the point where the warm water from the south meets the cold water of the river in the north of the bay. Monty Professor Priede from the University of aberdeen surprised to find: "the area it looked the same, mirror images of each other, but that is where the similarity ends. Surprised at how different the animals were on either side of the ridge which is just tens of miles apart. It seemed like we were in a scene from Alice through the looking glass. "Hydromedusa This is one of the potential new species. The latest generation of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) used to capture it in its natural habitat 2,500 meters below sea level.
2. Basketball star / starfish gorgon head
Priede and his colleagues set out to find the habitat previously known species, so the discovery of an unknown creature so much or endangered species such as basketball star is far beyond expectations. It's a basketball star or starfish gorgon head is the cousin of a starfish, it feeds on plankton and shrimp and using his arms to walk.
3.polynoid polychaete.Priede said: "We think we know this area from trawl samples before, but the animals that we found on this trip too soft and would be destroyed by trawl nets." Polycahaete Polynoid kind of worm caught at 2,500 m below sea level.
4.holothurianThe latest Remote operated vehicles (ROVs) have improved robotic arm and a suction device that allows scientists to suck gently and take the spirits - most of the newly discovered creature is between 5-10 cm in length - and put them in 'bioboxes' for transportation to get to the ocean surface. These small, delicate, kind of sea cucumber caught in approximately 2,500 m below sea level.
5.bathypelagic ctenophore
Rov using a manipulator arm and controlled suction device is equipped with x-ray and high-resolution TV camera. This allows scientists to traverse the rocky seabed, climbing and hunting these tiny creatures. It batipelagis ctenophore of benthic boundary layer, found attached to the ocean floor with tentacles adhesive.
6.enteropneoust / acorm wormIt enteropneust (acorm worm) caught around 2,700 m below sea level in the Atlantic ocean. Also included sea cucumber with suckers that enable them to climb, stony corals under the sea, and the creatures that could be the missing link between backboned and invertebrate animals.
7.benthic holothurian / peniagone diaphanaA benthic sea cucumbers (peniagone diaphana) from the mid-Atlantic ridge, which was caught swimming in the sea floor.
8.entheropneustA enteropneust captured around 2,500 m below sea level in the Atlantic Ocean.
9.bathypelagic ctenophore
A batipelagis ctenophore of benthic boundary layer are found attached to the ocean floor with tentacles adhesive.
10.benthic holothurian / peniagone porchellaA benthic sea cucumbers (peniagone porcella) of the mid-Atlantic ridge caught swimming in the sea floor.
